Another record-breaking year for live music and events

The UK’s live music scene is showing no signs of slowing down. According to the latest LIVE annual report, 2024 saw 55,000 gigs, concerts, festivals and events take place—one every 137 seconds! Consumer spend hit a record £6.68bn, up nearly 10% on the previous year, with major tours from artists like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Charli XCX driving much of that growth.

But while stadiums and arenas thrived, the report also highlights ongoing challenges for grassroots venues, small festivals and independent promoters—reminding us just how vital they are to the future of UK live music.

📊 The full report digs into spending patterns, city rankings (with Manchester and Glasgow on the rise), and the creation of the LIVE Trust—a new initiative aimed at supporting the grassroots through a £1 ticket levy on arena shows.
