Helping Venues Prepare for Martyn’s Law: Updated Roadmap Now Available

To support venues’ ongoing preparations to comply with the forthcoming Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 — widely known as Martyn’s Law — the Meetings Industry Association (mia) has released an updated version of its Roadmap to Navigating Martyn’s Law (September 2025).

Developed in partnership with GSA Global and ASG Rescue, and endorsed by Figen Murray OBE, the roadmap provides nine practical steps to help venues strengthen their safety and security procedures ahead of the new legislation.

A Practical Guide for the Events and Venues Sector

The updated roadmap offers clear, actionable guidance to help businesses in the meetings and events industry prepare for the evolving requirements of the forthcoming legislation. It includes:

  • Revised information on the current and proposed legal frameworks

  • Insights into how the legislation may apply to venues of varying sizes and capacities

  • Practical tools such as training checklists, risk assessment templates, and communication protocols

While the roadmap does not constitute legal advice, it offers a structured, proactive way for venues to review existing security practices, enhance preparedness for emergencies, and create safer spaces for staff, suppliers, and visitors.
